Mizuhiki threads white and silver and white and gold (3x90cm by color)

Mizuhiki is the traditional Japanese art of knotting paper threads, sometimes wrapped in silk, to create decorations, jewelry, cards, etc.

Traditionally it was used for the decoration of cards (New Year and condolences in particular) and packages, mainly in red, white and gold colors. It is also used a lot in ikebana (floral art). But today it is found in many other colors and is widely used to make jewellery.

These threads have the particularity of being both flexible and rigid at the same time. You can therefore tie them, but also give them a shape that they will keep. They are also easy to glue. The possibilities are therefore very different from what can be achieved with textile, plastic or metal yarns.
